Okay, that’s a bit of a misnomer. This isn’t the first cake I’ve ever made, but it is the first cake I’ve ever tried to put together correctly and decorate. I failed! The frosting was a little too soft or runny to really spread well. And clearly, I need to work on my writing. But [...]

I’m pretty sure these are the best chicken nuggets I’ve ever tasted. Or made. And the best part is that they’re baked instead of fried! 1/4 cup Frank’s Red Hot Sauce 1 tablespoon butter 1 1/4 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts cut into large chunks 1 egg 1 cup panko bread crumbs 1 teaspoon kosher [...]

I almost feel the need to apologize for enjoying Twilight. But I won’t. I’ve read through the series multiple times (well, I’ve only read Breaking Dawn once, but I’ll rectify that this week), but it’s been a good while since I’d turned those pages. I’d begun to allow some of the Twilight bashing affect how [...]

This was probably the best salad I’ve had in a long time. And it was the simplest thing I’ve made in awhile. Isn’t it pretty? All it is made of is a bagged spring mix of leafy greens, tomatoes that are roughly chopped, and Kraft Zesty Italian dressing. Simple. Healthy. Tasty.

When I first found a recipe for these little guys, I couldn’t wait to try them. They sounded delicious and fairly simple to make, and luckily they are! My only caution is to be extra careful with the amount of sage you include. I doubled the filling recipe, and found that too much sage is [...]

I can vividly remember checking out every single copy of the series I could find at my local library and holing up in my room [...]

This was one of the best things I’ve ever made. Seriously. And while I absolutely suck at getting tortillas to roll up and sit nicely on the seam without all of the stuffing falling out, the sauce covered up the imperfections and it tasted amazing. This is my own variation of the Pioneer Woman’s recipe. [...]

Doesn’t that look like a perfectly lovely dish? I thought so too. But I learned a very important lesson this weekend. Just because garlic, cheddar, and tomato sauce go fantastically well in nearly every dish they are combined in… such is not the case when you combine them in a nice bowl of grits for [...]

I’ve said it before on my personal blog; Julie and Julia is a life changing book. At least for me. I’m not sure exactly why. It probably has something to do with the myriad of similarities I see between myself and the author. At 27, I feel the pressure of the impending 30th year of [...]
